The Central Railway (CR) is planning to introduce one coach on the lines of a Vistadome on the Neral-Matheran stretch. Vistadome coaches have glass panes on the roof and large windows for a better view.
These coaches have been introduced by Konkan Railway, like on the Mumbai-Madgaon Jan Shatabdi Express. Officials said a toy train coach will be modified to resemble a Vistadome coach.
V.A. Malegaonkar, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, CR, said, “We’re exploring the feasibility. The coach will have its own fare, to be decided in consultation with the Railway Board.” Officials said the plan is likely to be finalised this week, and the coach is to be introduced after the monsoon.
