Three students including a minor were arrested by the Mumbai police for abetment to suicide of their fellow schoolmate.

16- year-old Simran Keni, a standard ten student of Jay Bharat High School and Junior College in Mulund in Central Mumbai, jumped from the terrace of a skyscraper in the neighbourhood on Saturday evening.

On her wrist the deceased had scribbled words, 'I hate 'followed by an incomplete mobile number before taking the extreme step. The mobile number was tracked to the main accused.

Based on the note which is being treated as an 'incriminating evidence' and the statements of the victim's parents against the accused,  Sahil Sheikh (19) and his two friends, Kamlesh Vaishnav (19) and a minor , the trio were placed under arrest on Sunday morning.

While Sahil and Kamlesh are college students of the same institution, the minor accused is victim's classmate. The four knew each other, the police said.

While the two major accused have been remanded to police custody, the minor (juvenile in conflict with law) has been sent to a children's home in Central Mumbai.

"The accused was stalking the victim for the last two years and was even warned by the deceased's father but he didn't pay any heed to his warnings. His two friends continued to send messages to the victim and were pursuing her to accept Sahil's proposal," Mr. Rajaram Wanmane, senior police inspector of Mulund police station told The Hindu .

"The victim had rejected the accuser’s proposal and had even requested him to leave her alone. The accused, however, kept on texting and calling the victim, trying to win her over. Tired of the harassment and the constant stalking, the girl took the extreme step," he added.

"We are treating the note on her wrist as her dying declaration," he further informed. A dying declaration could be treated as an irrefutable piece of evidence if it inspires confidence in the court.
