Mumbai: Three people suffered burn injuries in a suspected gas leak explosion in an eatery in Andheri on Wednesday.

According to Fire Brigade officials, the fire broke out in Vaishnav Dhaba, and was reported to them at 6:15 p.m. The dhaba had only opened for business on Tuesday.

“I was minding my store when there was a massive explosion and things started falling off the shelves,” said Heera Chaudhary, who runs a provision store next to the dhaba.

Sahebzada Khan, an Uber driver who was driving by the site of the explosion, said, “I was on my way to Jogeshwari Andheri Link Road when the explosion occurred. Two people came out running and crashed into my car. I stopped and got out to help them, while my passenger fled in panic.”

Fire tenders doused the fire in an hour. The injured identified as Purushottom (30), Sami (27), and Badlal (36), were taken to Holy Spirit Hospital in Andheri.

Investigations are on to ascertain the cause of the fire.
