Mumbai Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria has received a threat letter signed by a ‘mujahideen,’ daring him to stop the repeat of 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police Mahesh Patil, the letter was received on Friday.

“The letter says that violence in Gaza will be avenged. It has also dared the Mumbai police to stop the repeat of 1993,” he told The Hindu .

The one-page letter written mostly in English and some part in Hindi said, “Stop us, this time if you can. You were lucky in 1993.”

Mr. Patil said that all anti-terrorist cells are on high alert and have been asked to take extra precaution.

Meanwhile, a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity said that the letter could also be a mischief played by some anti-social elements. “But we are taking all necessary precautions,” he said.
