Students move HC for putting off law exams

Two law students have moved the Bombay High Court seeking postponement of examinations scheduled for January 29.

A Division Bench of Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice B.P. Colabawala heard the plea filed by Sainath Pawar and Sharad Koli, first year LLB students of G. J. Advani College.

The PIL states that they have had just 17 lecture days in the current semester. They said that two lectures were held each day and one lecture lasted for one hour and forty minutes.

According to the University Grants Commission (UGC), every semester should have 90 working days before examinations can be conducted. The PIL mentions the Rules of Legal Education, 2008, issued by the Bar Council of India. It reads, “As the academic session for first year students starts late in October, efforts must be taken to make arrangements for additional classes.”
