Following a flood of complaints about the anomalies in the Mumbai Development Plan, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Tuesday, scrapped the future town planning document prepared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Speaking to reporters in Mantralaya after the State Cabinet meeting, Mr. Fadnavis said the State government had directed the BMC to rectify all problems in the Development Plan and revise it within a period of four months.

The decision comes after the Chief Minister had appointed a committee headed by the State Chief Secretary to review the plan and submit a preliminary report in three days.

Citizens groups had also organised strong protests against the Development Plan on Sunday. A deluge of complaints pointing out errors in the plans had flooded the BMC ahead of the April 24 deadline set by the civic body inviting suggestions and objections from citizens groups, NGOs and political parties.
