Sena leader killed near Mumbai

Shiv Sena leader Mohan Raut was killed outside his office by an unknown assailant in Badlapur, on the outskirts of Mumbai, on Friday morning.

Raut, a former corporator and presently Sena’s vice-president in Badlapur, was shot four times on his chest. He was immediately rushed to a local government hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The family suspects political rivalry behind the murder. The police have registered a case and are probing all possibilities.,

Raut’s family members, including his wife and his brother’s wife, are corporators in the Badlapur Municipal Council.

“So far a murder case has been registered against an unknown person and investigations are under way,” I.R. Andhalkar, senior inspector, Badlapur police station, told The Hindu .
