Around 30 lockers in the Juinagar branch of Bank of Baroda were broken into over the weekend by robbers who dug a tunnel to the bank from an adjoining shop. The robbery was discovered only on Monday morning, when the bank resumed work after the weekend.

The first tunnel found had a circumference of about 3 feet and was around 5 feet deep from the shop to ground.

After that a horizontal tunnel of around 30 feet with a height of around four and half feet was dug till the bank locker room which was linked to another tunnel going up. A 40-foot-long tunnel is suspected to have been dug by the accused.

“We have got clues about the accused and our teams are working on them," Assistant police inspector (Turbhe division) Mr. Kiran Patil said. “Around 10 teams are working on the case. Previously similar modus operandi was used in Kamothe and Nerul cases wherein the accused were nabbed. These accused have used same modus operandi and could be linked to them," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Dr. Sudhakar Pathare said.
