Ratnagiri refinery: Rane supporters disrupt Karni Sena press meet

April 26, 2018 12:58 am | Updated 05:24 pm IST - Mumbai

A press conference organised by Karni Sena activist Ajay Singh Sengar at Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh on Wednesday in support of the proposed Ratnagiri Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. was disrupted by members of Narayan Rane’s Maharashtra Swabhiman Paksha (MSP).

Mr. Sengar claimed he was from Konkan and most locals supported the project. Local villagers, including Konkan Refinery Virodhi Sangharsh Sanghatana president Ashok Walam, asked him questions about the project.

An altercation broke out between two sides, and MSP activists started shouting slogans. The villagers and activists were later detained by the police.
