Mumbai: Shyamvar Rai, an accused-turned-approver in the Sheena Bora murder case, told the CBI court on Tuesday that prime accused Indrani Mukerjea’s ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, also an accused, brought the bag to transport her body.

On the night Sheena was killed, Mr. Rai said he was asked to pick up dinner from a restaurant near her residence by Ms. Mukerjea. Later, they stopped at a petrol pump, and reached the spot in a forest at Raigad district around 7 a.m. on April 24, 2012.

Describing the spot, he said the place was not visible from the road as it was on a slope, and the body would not be visible if one was standing beside the road. Mr. Rai said the area had debris and a mango tree, and Mr. Khanna brought the bag to carry Sheena’s body. He said he had kept the bag near the body, and it was burnt around 60 feet to 70 feet away from the car.

In the previous hearing, Mr. Rai said he can’t recollect if Sheena’s boyfriend, Rahul Mukerjea, had asked him about her whereabouts when they met on April 26, 2012.

Referring to a conversation between Mr. Rai and Rahul that allegedly lasted 13 minutes, he said, “I don’t remember the nature of the conversation.”

Mr. Rai’s cross-examination will continue on Wednesday.
