Former Maharashtra Home Minister and senior NCP leader R R Patil, who has been undergoing treatment at the Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra, is in a critical but stable condition, party sources said on Monday.

“His health condition keeps fluctuating and has to be monitored...He is critical but stable,” NCP sources said.

Sources said the 57-year-old is being treated for a condition related to the heart for which he had undergone a successful angiography at Bombay Hospital last month.

However, Lilavati Hospital authorities refused to comment on the nature of his ailment.

“Patil is undergoing treatment for the last few days,” a hospital spokesman said on Monday without elaborating further.

Earlier, Patil had undergone a surgery for an oral condition at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai.

Sources said the veteran leader is also under treatment for the oral condition at another hospital in the suburbs.
