In a setback to the police, the person who they wanted to make their key eyewitness in the complaint filed by actor Preity Zinta has left the country.

The actress in her complaint accused her former boyfriend Ness Wadia of molestation and intimidation in the Wankhede stadium on May 30.

G. Jean, a close friend of the actor who she had claimed had intervened when Mr. Wadi allegedly molested her, left the country post the IPL finale. In her statement to the police recorded on Tuesday, Ms. Zinta had named the American national as one who witnessed the incident.

The actor has shared the names of 14 people who were witnesses to the incident with the police.

“We have learnt that Mr. Jean left the country after the incident and therefore we will try to get his email id and request him to record his statement as he is a key eyewitness in the case,” a senior police officer told The Hindu .

Ms. Zinta told the police that May 30 was not the only instance where she was abused by Mr. Wadia.

“The actor has told us that May 30 match was not a one-off incident, in three of the matches prior to the IPL final scheduled on May 30, Mr. Wadia allegedly humiliated her in public by using filthy language,” he added.
