The Mumbai police on Thursday recorded the statement of Ms. Pooja Dadlani, one of the nine persons whose names were shared by industrialist Mr. Ness Wadia in the case filed against him by his former girlfriend Preity Zinta.
On June 12, the actor had lodged a case against Mr. Wadia accusing him of molestation and intimidation at the Wankhede stadium on May 30th. Ms. Dadlani, a resident of South Mumbai claims she was present at the Wankhede stadium when the incident took place.
On July 2nd, Mr. Wadia had written to the police sharing names of nine people who he claimed were present at the stadium and had requested the police to record their statements. But the police were unable to contact them as their contact details were not shared. Following which, Mr. Wadia sent another letter sharing the contact details of six persons.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ravindra Shisve confirmed that Ms. Dadlani's statement was recorded but refused to divulge more details.
However a senior officer privy to the probe told The Hindu that Ms. Dadlani has supported Mr. Ness Wadia's claims that the allegation against him is false and baseless. “She has said that Mr. Wadia did not misbehave with Preity. But the statement needs to be corroborated,” said a senior police officer.
Meanwhile, the police have asked for a soft copy of the photographs submitted by the actor showing ‘bruise like marks’. The actor had alleged that the ‘marks’ were caused when Ness Wadia molested her and grabbed her with force.
“We want to be sure that the pictures given are authentic and not edited to suit her claims and therefore we have asked for a soft copy,” the officer added.
