Mumbai: The lawyer of former Tata Finance managing director Dilip Pendse, who committed suicide in Dadar on Wednesday, said on Thursday that Pendse had been depressed due to the ongoing cases against him.

Pendse, who used to stay with his wife in Royal Grace building in Dadar (east), was found hanging in his office on the ground floor of the same building. He left a suicide note saying that he was taking the extreme step due to personal reasons and that no one should be held responsible for his actions.

Advocate H.H. Nagi, who had been representing Pendse since 2001, visited Matunga police station on Thursday morning. “Pendse had been fighting in court and had lately become depressed. The Mumbai Police had dropped charges against him, but the SEBI investigations are on.”

Pendse’s body was handed over to his family members on Thursday after post-mortem. However, their statements could not be recorded as they are in shock.
