The Navi Mumbai Traffic Department and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation are making all efforts to ensure smooth flow of traffic during the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The Dr. D.Y. Patil Stadium will host matches on October 6, 9, 12 and 18 and the semi-final on October 25.
Reducing snarl-ups
Nitin Pawar, Deputy Commissioner Police (Traffic), said: “We have charted out alternative routes to divert traffic. To avoid snarl-ups, private vehicles will be allowed near the stadium. Motorists will have to park vehicles at designated parking lots. Those using private taxis such as Ola and Uber will have to disembark at the MIDC service road near the foot overbridge and walk towards the stadium.”
To prevent traffic congestion on Sion-Panvel highway, entry for heavy vehicles into Navi Mumbai via Mahape and Shil Phata road has been restricted. Traffic from Mumbra, Kalyan–Shil Phata via Mahape towards Navi Mumbai–Uran (JNPT) and Mumbai has been restricted.
The bypass route will be Kalyan-Bhiwandi road towards Mumbai; Kalyan towards Shilphata via Mumbra and via Thane towards Mumbai. Traffic from Kalyan, Bhiwandi, and Thane and heading towards JNPT via Mahape will have to move towards Shilphata and travel via Taloja, Kalomboli-D point towards JNPT or via Shilphata-Mahape–Rabale towards Mumbai. Heavy vehicles coming from Mahape to Turbhe via Vashi towards Mumbai will be restricted. The restrictions would apply from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on match days.
Heavy vehicles from Uran-Jasai (SH 54) towards Mumbai will ply via SH 54–Goubanphata Padeghar bridge, NH 4B-D Point Kalamboli circle, Taloja-Shilphata via Thane towards Mumbai.
