The Bombay High Court on Thursday granted protection from arrest to Pankaj Bhujbal, a member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and son of a former Deputy Chief Minister, till August 8. A single Bench of Justice P.N. Deshmukh granted relief to Mr. Bhujbal, while his father Chhagan Bhujpal and cousin Sameer are lodged in the Arthur Road Jail in connection with a money-laundering case.

All the case matters have been tagged together and will be heard on August 8.

On April 27, a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act court had issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Mr. Bhujbal and others, which was returnable on May 11. He has since then been evading arrest.
