No hike in Metro fare till Feb 11

January 30, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 23, 2016 04:04 am IST - Mumbai:

The proposed fare hike for Mumbai Metro will not be implemented until February 11 as the MMRDA, which had challenged the fare hike, and the operator have sought time to seek a clarification on the Supreme Court’s order in the case.

On December 17, the Bombay High Court had passed an interim order granting a stay on the fare hike that Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MOPL), a subsidiary of Reliance Energy, had proposed for the Versova to Ghatkopar metro. The MOPL had moved the Supreme Court challenging the HC order.

The SC on January 27 refused to interfere with the HC order and sent the petition back to the HC to hear the matter and take a decision on the same day.

On Friday, a division bench said it would hear MOPL and the MMRDA, which had originally moved the HC challenging the proposed fare hike.
