Jeetendra, Anil Kapoor to get State awards

The Maharashtra government’s lifetime achievement award in the memory of Raj Kapoor will be conferred on actor Jeetendra, while actor Anil Kapoor will be felicitated with a special contribution award. The awards will be conferred on April 30 at Borivali’s General Arunkumar Vaidya ground.

Cultural Affairs Minister Vinod Tawde on Sunday announced the government decision. A committee headed by Mr Tawde finalised the names.

Born in Punjab, Jeetendra spent his childhood in Mumbai. Late V Shantaram’s Navrang along with actor Sandhya was his debut film. Since then he has worked in more than 200 films.

Mr Kapoor was born and brought up in Mumbai and has left his mark in Bollywood and Hollywood.
