Cabinet Minister accused of molestation

July 20, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - Mumbai:

The Maharashtra Legislative Council was on Tuesday stunned with allegations that a senior State Cabinet Minister has molested a class I woman employee. The employee has given a complaint to another Cabinet Minister, alleged senior Congress leader and former Revenue Minister Narayan Rane.

Mr. Rane alleged that the woman officer has demanded (in her request to another minister) that she may never be allowed or asked to work under the minister who molested her. “If the government wants I can reveal the name of the minister right away, should I?” Mr. Rane asked, demanding an answer from the Treasury Benches, which looked in shock at the allegations.

The Opposition also attacked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for not visiting the family of the Kopardi rape victim. “Mr. Fadnavis can visit temples and shrines, and houses of senior Shiv Sena leaders, but he did not find time to visit the family of the victim,” Mr. Rane said.
