A 28-year-old Nepali national committed suicide at his Bandra residence late on Wednesday.

According to the Bandra police, the deceased, Bharat Buda (28), used to work as domestic help in the area. He lived in Jivesh Terraces at Bandstand with his uncle Hira.

Senior Police Inspector Pandit Thackeray said they received information on Wednesday night that someone had tried to kill themselves in the building, and sent a team. Buda was rushed to Bhabha Hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.

“Inquiries indicate that Buda had been depressed for around a month. His uncle told us that he refused to discuss the reason,” said Mr. Thackeray.

The police will make inquiries with Buda’s employers, family and friends and will examine his cell phone, said officers.

When The Hindu visited Jivesh Terraces, located near actor Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow Mannat, security guards refused to speak about the incident and said no outsiders were allowed inside.

The Bandra police have registered an accidental death report.
