Following a duty-related argument, a police officer on Saturday allegedly shot at and injured his senior officer and a constable before committing suicide.

The incident took place at the Vakola police station, where all three policemen were posted.

The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital.

The investigation has been handed over to the Mumbai police Crime Branch.

According to the police, Assistant Sub Inspector Dilip Shikre (55) had a heated argument with senior inspector Vilas Joshi before training the guns on his colleagues.

“ASI Shirke was absent on duty so an entry recording the same was made made in the station diary. On Saturday evening, when he arrived at the police station, he questioned the SPI the reason behind it leading to an argument,” said a senior police officer.

The argument turned heated and an enraged Shirke fired two rounds — one bullet hitting Mr. Joshi's back while the other hitting an orderly Balasaheb Ahir on his thigh.

After this, the accused shot himself fatally.
