Mumbai: Mumbai University, set to go digital with checking of exam answer scripts this year, began scanning them on May 1 but teachers are confused as they have still not been informed when the marking is to begin.
“When we asked our college officials, they said we would be informed shortly. We know that scanning has started, but we have not been told when we have to begin marking the papers. So, in a way, we are on vacation for the past 15 days,” said Jeetendra Jha, who teaches Accountancy.
“There is no information coming in; usually, we get a letter from the university which is then passed on through our college saying when the papers are to be marked. We were told by the Vice Chancellor that the marking period would be from May 2 to May 10. It’s mid-month, but we are yet to hear anything. Many teachers have decided to take a week off,” an Economics professor said.
“We have released a circular on Saturday and with many of the course papers having been scanned, assessment should begin this coming week. Teachers can use their log-in code on any system at one of the 93 centres in Mumbai and begin correcting them,” M. A. Khan, Registrar, Mumbai University, said.
