Mumbai: Alleging that the Congress does not allow him to work freely despite having capabilities, former MP Subodh Mohite on Monday joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) component Shivsangram led by Vinayak Mete.

Mr. Mohite was a two-time Shiv Sena MP from Ramtek and a Minister of State in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. He quit the Sena in 2010 to join the Congress and he was also given the responsibility as the vice-president of the state unit.

“I wasted my six years in the Congress, where despite having capabilities, one is not given a free hand,” said Mr Mohite. He will now be the state president of Shivsangram-affiliated Bharatiya Sangram Parishad.

A rally will be held in Nagpur on June 9 where a number of Sena leaders will be joining hands with Mr. Mohite.

“Our political party is a registered party and will participate in all elections,” said Mr. Mete, adding that a heavyweight like Mr. Mohite will take his party to new heights.
