A Mumbai based model who had lodged a case of sexual harassment against the Deputy Inspector General of police Mr. Sunil Paraskar has given her consent to undergo a polygraphic test.
A senior police officer told The Hindu that the decision to subject the victim to a scientific test was being taken after studying the messages exchanged between the two. Earlier this week the victim had surrendered the two phones which she has been using.
“The victim has sent text messages after the alleged crime which shows that they were still in good terms with each other. Some of the conversations were initiated by the victim herself,” the source said.
On June 23rd, the model had lodged a complaint accusing the officer of raping and molesting her between November 2013 and March 2014 when he was posted as the Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) with the Mumbai police.
“We want the truth to come out in the open and have nothing to hide. The police approached us asking us if we would like to take the test, we have given our consent,” Ms. Chitra Salunke, the victim’s lawyer told The Hindu.
The move to subject the victim to a scientific test comes just a day after the Mumbai police approached a local court to subject the accused officer to a lie detector test. However Mr. Paraskar’s lawyer told The Hindu that his client won’t undertake the test.
The Hindu accessed some of the emails exchanges between the victim and the accused. In one of the emails the victim has expressed her displeasure to the proximity the accused shared with a rival model. In reply the accused has tried to pacify the victim denying any acquittance with the said model.
“You please go away from my life. I swear on God I will show the whole world that how big actor you are, u cry, u threat, u beg, u party hard, u do video shoots, u are on wats app whole night,” (sic) the victim has stated in an email sent on June 27th.
“I will tell you once again I have never seen this lady or have spoken to her. I don’t know who gives these wrong ideas and how can you believe it. If will show you whatever you need from my phone to check. I swear on my mother who is no more that I don’t even know this lady” the reply sent by Mr. Paraskar on June 27th read.
