Navi Mumbai: A 19-year-old girl, who went missing on Wednesday after her exam, was found by her parents lying unconscious in her college’s bathroom on Thursday morning.

The girl, a student of First Year B.Com in Ramsheth Takur College, Kharghar, spent the whole night in the bathroom on the second floor of the college.

“She had her exam from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, but after that she did not return home. We searched for her everywhere, but could not find her. We went thrice to her college, but were not allowed inside. Then we lodged a missing complaint with the Kharghar police,” her maternal uncle said.

On Thursday morning, her relatives demanded to search every room in the college and found her in the bathroom. “Initially, she said that she had a fight with two friends who locked her inside the bathroom, but later when she was taken to the police, she said she had done that it herself. However, we suspect that she changed the statement because of some pressure,” he said.

BJP MLA Prashant Thakur, who is also the managing director of the college, said, “Initially, we had thought the incident happened due to the negligence of our staff, but now she has said she planned it. We will still conduct an enquiry and if we find there is any lapse on our part, we will take action.”

Meanwhile, an official from Kharghar Police Station said, “The girl had created a fake Facebook profile in the name of Apoorva Patil and was chatting with two friends. Her friends came to know of the truth on Wednesday, She was afraid she would be harmed and hid. Neither the college staff nor her friends had any involvement in the incident. ”
