Mild tremors hit north Gujarat

Tremors measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale shook parts of Banaskantha district in north Gujarat on Monday. No damage has been reported.

An official of the Institute of Seismological Research in Gandhinagar said the tremors were recorded at 3.52 p.m, and the epicentre was 32 km north-west of Deesa in the district.

Swinging into action

Banaskantha Collector Jenu Devan said a team of district officials had been sent to the site of the epicentre.

Mr. Devamn said, “We have rushed officials to ascertain the impact of the earthquake in the areas around the epicentre in Sia village near Dhanera town. No damage to life or property has been reported as of yet.”
