A 31-year-old man who worked in a meat shop at Ghansoli was found murdered at his house on Friday morning.

Rais Abdul Baksh was working for Bhagwan Jadhav for the past two years and stayed in a neighbourhood chawl at Chinchali in Ghansoli. Around 13 days ago, Irfan Qureshi (30), the suspect in the case, approached Mr. Jadhav for work. He was employed at the meat shop along with Baksh and asked to share his room as well.

A police official from Rabale Police Station said, “The complainant Mr. Jadhav said Baksh and Qureshi used to have minor fights in the shop, but it was not expected to end in murder. The suspect Qureshi is absconding and we are hunting for him.”

The two were last seen heading home together after dinner on Thursday night. On Friday morning at around 7 a.m., Mr. Jadhav went to their house and found the door open. He switched on the light and found Baksh lying in a pool of blood. The police official said, “The weapon used was the butcher’s knife and it was found near the body. Baksh throat was slit. The accused, who hails from U.P., will be arrested.”
