A case has been registered against Sanjay Gade, a resident of Indiranagar RCF Colony in Chembur, for torturing and killing a cat on May 14. The complaint was filed by animal welfare officer Nirali Koradia after Deepak Nirmal, an animal activist from the colony, sent her a picture of the cat being hung outside Mr. Gade’s house.

Senior Police Inspector Dinesh Desai of RCF police station said that the accused had killed the cat because it had been making noises and excreting outside his house for many days. Mr. Desai said, “The accused has had a brain tumour for the past three years and cannot walk without support. He fainted when he was brought to the police station. We are going to refer him for tests to see if he is medically fit. If he is, we will arrest him.”
