The Maharashtra government will soon implement the Marathi language policy, said Education Minister Vinod Tawde on Friday.

The minister’s statement comes after a meeting with social historian Sadanand More, who is the chairman of the advisory committee for Marathi language.

“The first draft recommendations are received. It will be reviewed by the Marathi language department followed by the Cabinet approval. Once it clears all the necessary stages, it will be implemented,” said Mr. Tawde.

The advisory board was formed to increase the use of Marathi language in science, education, and trade sectors.

Mr. More said, “An advisory committee was formed which further divided their focus on literature, art, judiciary, media, industry, economics and education. We have made recommendations as per these divisions and also recommended a review after every three years. It should be done to find out whether implementation is going on as per the recommendations.”

There should be another review after every 10 years to find out the results of the implementation, Mr. More said.
