Mumbai: A Mumbai-based lawyer has submitted an application to the Cyber police seeking an FIR against actor Rishi Kapoor in connection with a tweet that he posted on Friday.

The veteran actor, who is quite active on Twitter and has a significant following, had tweeted on the blind support for rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim. “All this submission to your wong guide is crap. People take advantage of your vulnerability. If they become the voice you follow then....” The tweet was accompanied by a picture of a naked boy wearing headphones, with the jack in his private parts.

On Saturday, advocate Adil Khatri, general secretary of Jai Ho Foundation, visited the Cyber police station and submitted an application, seeking an FIR under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Information Technology Act, against Mr. Kapoor.

“Mr Rishi Kapoor has more than 2.6 million followers on Twitter account. This means this child pornographic image material got circulated to more than 2.6 million people. There are more than 62 retwwets and 376 likes as of now on his indecent image and this will increase many folds (sic),” the application read.

When contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber) Akbar Pathan said no FIR has been registered as yet.

While the tweet has now been deleted, Mr. Khatri said Jai Ho Foundation will soon be approaching the Metropolitan Magistrate’s court in Bandra to file a suit in the matter.
