Navi Mumbai: Investigations into the suicide of an assistant sub-inspector’s 30-year-old son have revealed that he had made similar attempts twice.

“He had psychological issues and was undergoing treatment. The father and the son shared a bitter relation and both of them had approached the police with complaints against each other,” said senior police inspector Ashok Naik.

On August 6, Pankaj Patil, a resident of Highlight Housing Society at Sector 22, Kamothe, was found dead in the first floor parking. He had jumped from the terrace of the 13th floor. A security guard found his body and alerted his parents who were fast asleep.

Searching for job

Mr. Naik said Mr. Patil’s wife and their two-year-old son were at his in-law’s house when the incident occurred. “His wife, a bank employee, had gone to her home town for a computer examination. He asked her to come back, but she wanted to do better in her career as Mr. Patil was jobless. His father had opened a wine shop in Kamothe, but he assigned someone else to look after it. He was desperately searching for a job.” The officer ruled out any foul play.

The victim’s father Bhika Patil works as the driver of Joint Commissioner Madhukar Pandey of Thane Commissionerate.
