Navi Mumbai: The Cyber Cell of the Crime Branch has arrested a man from Jharkhand for cheating people by promising jobs.

The accused, identified as Vickykumar Shankarprasad Noniya (25), along with his gang had created a portal naukribuzz.in . “They have registered themselves as employers with various job portals. After paying the required amount, they used to access resumes uploaded and approach job seekers with offers, and would ask them to pay money under various heads,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Tushar Doshi, Crime Branch, said.

After a woman from Nerul, who was duped of ₹ 3.31 lakh, filed a complaint, the Cyber Cell started tracing the IP address from where the emails were sent and then bank details from where they got mobile numbers. “We traced the accused to Dhanbad in Jharkhand and nabbed him. We froze seven bank accounts which had more than ₹1 crore,” Mr. Doshi said.
