Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar’s son Apoorva Javadekar could face action in the Chief Minister’s discretionary quota flat allotment scam.
The State government told the Bombay High Court on Tuesday that it would not withdraw FIRs against those who had surrendered the flats they were allotted under the discretionary quota.
A Public Interest Litigation petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court challenging double allotments to persons of the same family.
The State government said the two sons of Prakash Javadekar — Apoorva and Ashutosh — had been given flats under the quota. While Ashutosh later sold his flat, Apoorva surrendered his in December last year.
“The State government submitted an affidavit in the court today. It withdrew the statement it had made the last time that it will drop cases against those who have already surrendered their flats,” Ketan Tirodkar, the petitioner, told The-Hindu . “The court had said then that there was no provision in law to withdraw FIRs.”
The State government has been asked to file a compliance report.
