Rabale police on Thursday have arrested Jayesh Mahalim (29) from Pen in Raigad district who had been on run since five days after killing his wife Vaishali (30) at his residence. The accused, an operator with a private company in Rabale MIDC along with his wife had been having frequent fights with his wife over alleged illicit relationships she was having. The duo couple who had been in relationship since school times, had got married around eight years back and had a 3 year old daughter and a year and half old son. “Two weeks back, Vaishali had ran away with her boyfriend to Pune, leaving her husband and two kids behind. After Jayesh filed a missing complaint, we found her and handed over to husband. The couple was planning to get divorced and had planned to meet a lawyer on Sunday but the incident happened on Sunday wee hours,” Assistant Police Inspector Santosh Kotval from Rabale Police Station said.
According to police on Sunday at around 1 am, Jayesh found her talking to another person. “At around 1 am, she told her husband that she was going to toilet and even after half an hour she had not returned and suspecting something amiss he stepped out and found that she was talking to another person who fled after seeing Jayesh. After coming back home they had a heated argument over the affair,” API Mr Kotval said. Jayesh told her wife that she can do whatever she wants to after they get divorced but she will have to take care of the younger son who still needed mother’s milk. “Furious Vaishali told Jayesh that she won’t mind killing her children if they come in between her affairs and took out a sickle and kept on their son’s neck. In a fit of rage, Jayesh took the sickle in his hand and killed his wife by slitting her throat,” API Mr Kotval added. The accused then dropped his kids at his parent’s house at Rabale and left. He had been continuously changing his location and on Thursday the police got a tip off about he coming to Pen after which they laid a trap and arrested him. he was produced before the court and has been remanded to police custody till May 19th.
