Two more eyewitnesses who deposed in the Bollywood actor Salman Khan's hit-and-run trial on Monday identified the actor while testifying in the court. The actor was present in the court during the deposition of the witnesses.

Ramashray Pandey, owner of a dairy store which is located close to the accident spot told the court that at the time when he reached the spot, he saw Salman Khan getting down of the car.

“I saw Salman Khan getting down from the car. Ravindra Patil (Salman’s deceased bodyguard) was standing outside the car near the driver’s side. Prior to Salman getting down Patil was standing near the car. The driver side of the car was already open. The car was not in any position to move and a crane was called. The injured were kept near the bakery,” he said.

“When Salman got down from the car I saw the car and did not see anybody in the front seat,” Mr. Pandey added.

Another eyewitness, a bar owner also testified in court. He told the court that drinks were served at the table occupied by Salman and his friends on the night of accident.

In May, three other eyewitnesses who had testified in the court had identified the actor. A total of 10 witnesses have been examined so far in case including the two witnesses who deposed on Monday. The case has been adjourned to Tuesday.

In September 2002, one person was killed and four injured after the actor’s SUV allegedly jumped over a footpath where the victims were sleeping. Mr. Khan was earlier booked for rash and negligent driving. But later, the court observed that he could be charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

He then moved an application for fresh examination of witnesses on the grounds that the witnesses were previously examined for lesser charges against him. His application was granted by the court and a re-trial was ordered.
