The Bombay High Court on Monday has asked the Advocate General to explore how modern techniques can be used while conducting investigations.

A Division Bench of Justice V.M. Kanade and Justice P.R. Bora was hearing a criminal public interest litigation filed by Ashwini Rane. Her husband Nikhil died after unknown persons shot him in Pune in November 2009. The case was handed over to the CBI in 2011.

To fast track investigations, the Bench suggested that the State must have a bank of finger prints which will help tackle cases of murder and terrorism in a time bound manner. The court reiterated the proposition made in the last hearing that modern techniques should be adopted by investigating agencies to probe serious offences.
