Hawking zones for women

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to make special provisions for women hawkers as part of its initiative to make the city more gender-sensitive.

Nidhi Chaudhary, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Special), said, “The BMC plans to earmark special provisions for women hawkers in its town vending policy and allow special zones for women hawkers and the disabled”.

Ms. Chaudhary said the provisions are being proposed for the Development Plan-2034. She said, “The provisions will come into effect once approved to be included in the DP.”
