Panaji: Actor and former Lok Sabha member from Mandya in Karnataka, Divya Spandana aka Ramya, who is also the social media chief of the Congress, said on Friday that the government was muzzling the voice of the Opposition, and the media has also unwittingly become part of this bias.

When asked about the perception that the biggest achievement of the Modi government was the complete decimation of the Opposition, Ms. Ramya, at a press conference at the Congress headquarters here on Friday, said it would be wrong to say so. “In my opinion, it is not always that the majority that has the voice, the minority also has a voice. This government continues to tell lies and propagate falsehoods, but the Congress speaks the truth and will always fight for the truth,” she said.

When asked whether the Opposition had failed to counter the government , she said, “Media also is not exactly on our side.”

When asked if she meant the media was biased, Ms. Ramya said, “Well, I would think so, to a certain extent.”

Earlier, she lashed out at the Modi government, saying, “Media management, propaganda, platitude and acronyms have been the only success stories in last three years of BJP rule … Bravado, rhetoric and hyperbole summed up the three years of BJP government at the Centre.”
