A massive forest fire raged near Ghodbunder Road in Thane on Tuesday evening. The Thane Fire Brigade received a call informing them about the fire at 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday. The fire brigade sent one fire engine and a rescue van to the spot from Balkum fire station. Fire officials said the fire spread up to Bhayander Pada near Gaimukh Temple on Ghodbunder Road.

A senior officer with Mira-Bhayander Fire Brigade said that the fire had been raging for five days. The firefighters said they could not douse the fire earlier as the spot where the fire sparked off could not be accessed by road.
