Maharashtra budget 2015: As it happened

This is the first budget of a BJP-led government in Maharashtra.

State Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar is presenting the first budget of a BJP-led Maharashtra.

Faced with bulging deficit and a need to increase investments, the Maharashtra government has sought suggestions from finance experts, industry bodies, bureaucrats and other stakeholders for preparing the State budget for the next fiscal.

Here are the updates:

04.28 pm: 70 neonatal ambulances are to be made available for immediate treatment to infants with a view to reduce the infant mortality: Mr. Mungantiwar

04.26 pm: Rs. 1996 crores are to be provided for National Health Mission in the state.

04.25 pm: 1000 additional beds to be provided to Sir J. J. Hospital, Mumbai.

04.09 pm: National Pharmaceutical Science Education and Training Institute to be established at Nagpur.

03.58 pm: Rs. 50 crores have been allocated for the construction of Taluka and District-level sports stadium.

03.56 pm: Rs.1 crore is to be set aside for the formation of the State Zoo Authority to coordinate with the various zoos in Maharashtra.

03.54 pm: The Maharashtra government will also set up high-tech nurseries is each district.

03.53 pm: The Social Forestry Department is to develop Late Uttamrao Patil Forest Park in each district: Mr. Mungantiwar

03.50 pm: Rs.191 crores have been allocated for the development of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Project, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Gorewada Zoo on the lines of international forest tourism destinations like Masai Mara.

03.41 pm: Textile projects are to get an interest rebate of 5-7 per cent on long term loans.

03.40 pm: The Industrial Cluster Development Scheme is to be launched to boost industrial development in industrially backward areas.

03.25 pm: Rs.600 crores have been allocated for the Maharashtra Golden Jubilee Urban Upliftment Mega mission.

03.11 pm: Rs.50 crores to be spent on public gymnasiums across Maharashtra.

03.10 pm: In order to "harness the power of the youth," Mr Mungantiwar has annouced the Pramod Mahajan Skill Development Scheme with an allocation of Rs.161 crores.

03.08 pm: Skill development to be undertaken for 5 lakh youth.

02.54 pm: Maharashtra's handloom owners to be given an exemption of Rs.1232 crores for their electricity bills.

02.52 pm: Rs.91 crores have been allocated for the development of airports in the state.

02.51 pm: Rs.268 crores to be allocated for the development of Smart Cities.

02.50 pm: Tourist destination Jaigarh to be connected by rail.

02.49 pm: Bus stands in Nashik, Pune, Mumbai, Amravati and Nagpur to be renovated this year.
