Three industrial units were damaged when a fire broke out in a factory in Mahape TTC industrial area. The fire was reported around 3 a.m. on Saturday at PacoPacK Industries on Plot A68.

The large amount of cardboard stored in the PacoPacK unit, which manufactures pharmaceutical packaging material, caused the fire to spread rapidly to the neighbouring Malvika Synthetic Pvt. Ltd. on Plot A67. “It spread to Utomauki, another unit, which had scrap stored in it. It took almost 12 hours to bring the fire under control,” Fire Officer R.B. Patil said. Around eight fire engines from the MIDC fire station, NMMC, Thane and Reliance were called. “Property worth crores is suspected to have been damaged. The cause is not yet known,” he said.
