A minor fire broke out on a Thane-bound train at Dadar station on Friday night. Passengers noticed smoke billowing from the motor coach at 9.24 p.m. when the train was pulling into Platform No.1. No injuries were reported. Officials said the fire was immediately brought under control.

The Fire Brigade sent four fire engines and four jumbo tankers to the spot after its control room received a call at 9.29 p.m. Chief Fire Officer Prabhat Rahangdale said, “The fire was confined to the electric wiring and installations, and wooden seats in one bogie of the train.”

Sunil Udasi, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway, said, “Passengers were evacuated from the coach. The traffic on the slow line was diverted to the fast line.” Three trains were delayed owing to the incident.
