Essayist, playwright and publisher T.S. Eliot is considered to be one of the most formidable writers. An influential social and literary critic of the 20th century, Eliot is well-known for his contribution to the Formalist Movement in American Literature, upholding the notion of impersonality in poetry. Winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature (1948), Eliot wrote poems like The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock (1915), which later became part of the Modernist canon in English verse.
