Theatre: Stories in a song

July 05, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST

Director Sunil Shanbag blurs distinctions with this play that blends music, dance, theatre, literature and education. The two-hour play brings together a variety of Indian music through an assortment of seven short pieces and narrates the tale of traditional forms like kajri, thumri-dadra and khayal. Conceptualised by musicians Shubha Mudgal and Aneesh Pradhan, the play spans several eras. The performers include Aslam Parvez, Ashok Mishra and Vikram Phukan among others. Tickets are priced at Rs. 175. It will also be staged on July 6.
