Rail passengers gather around the car that was driven by a cricketer on to the first platform of the Andheri suburban station in Mumbai on Monday.

Ranji cricket player Harpeet Singh drove his car straight onto the platform no. 1 of the busy Andheri suburban railway station here at 7.20 a.m. on Monday, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) official said.

The car was confiscated by the RPF and Mr. Singh was taken into custody and quizzed, he said.

He is likely to be booked under sections of the Railway Act.

The incident caused chaos at the railway station as daily commuters were rushing to catch trains to their offices.
