Central Railway (CR) suburban trains will run as per a new winter timetable from Monday to offset delays caused due to dense early morning fog in the Kasara and Karjat sections.
CR will advance the timings of its early morning trains coming from Kasara and Karjat towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) by about 10 to 15 minutes. The new timetable will not affect the timings of trains Kalyan onwards. For instance, the first train from Karjat will depart at 2.25 a.m instead of 2.35 a.m. Similarly, the first Kasara local will depart at 4.10 a.m instead of 4.25 a.m. Both trains will reach Kalyan at their original scheduled times of 3.29 a.m and 5.37 a.m.
The change will only be for the first six services from Karjat and first four from Kasara.
Railway officials said that over the past weeks, speed restrictions due to poor visibility between Titwala and Kasara, and Ambernath and Karjat have caused delays. “We are trying out the new timetable to enhance punctuality of our services,” S.K Jain, divisional railway manager, Central Railway, said.
