Mumbai: Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Tuesday rescued a fishing boat with 14 crew members on board, which had been adrift in a rough sea for the past 10 days following a breakdown.

During surveillance on September 17, an ICG aircraft received a distress call from the boat, Seagull. The boat was at about 200 km from Mumbai and was battling heavy rain and poor visibility.

ICG ship Samudra Prahari was directed to proceed. “It located the boat on the morning of September 19. The boat had no water and food. The ship took the boat under tow,” said an ICG official.

After reaching Mumbai on Tuesday night, the boat with its crew was handed over to a fishing boat arranged by the fisheries department on Wednesday morning, which was then taken to Sasoon Dock.
