Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Monday asked the State government and the Thane Municipal Corporation to clarify what measures would be taken to rehabilitate slum dwellers who will be displaced from above Parsik tunnel in Thane.

A Division Bench of Justices Abhay Oka and Vibha Kankanwadi was hearing a plea filed by Central Railway seeking removal of the slums above Parsik Tunnel. The court said that to avoid any untoward incident like landslides, which will put hutment dwellers and railway passengers in danger, it was necessary to remove the hutments. It posted the matter for hearing on June 13.
