Mumbai: Two days after the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Thane Crime Branch arrested seven people in connection with an alleged plot to kill an independent corporator, the BJP corporator, who allegedly sanctioned the hit, surrendered to the police on Friday.

The AEC had on Tuesday arrested the seven history-sheeters, who were in Thane Central Jail after being arrested in connection with a robbery case, for allegedly accepting a contract of ₹50 lakh to kill Kunal Patil from Dombivli. The money was allegedly paid to them by Mahesh Patil due to a personal enmity.
