A Hyderabad-bound Indigo flight 6E827 was forced to make a “precautionary landing” at the Swami Vivekananda airport at Raipur due to a bird hit on Saturday morning.

“It was not an emergency landing as is being reported in some sections of the media. The pilot of the Raipur-Hyderabad flight suspected that a bird has hit the plane and as a precaution, he requested for landing minutes after the plane took off from Raipur airport this morning. The plane was granted permission and it landed safely,” said Santosh Dhoke, an official of the Airport Authority of India. Mr. Dhoke said blood stains were found near the plane’s engine.

“The passengers were sent to Hyderabad by a different flight later in the day,” he added.
